Watchdog circuits for microcontroller and computer
systems ( 3 ) :
The watchdog circuits used with microcontrollers are usuallybuilt in such
way that the software running in the microcontrollerperiodically resets the
watchdog circuit. If no watchdog circuit"reset" signal is received during a
predetermined timeframe, thewatchog circuit will activate it's alarm output
(which is usuallyused to reset the microcontroller circuit to start all
over).Watchdog circuit then causes an alarm when the software crashed(whn
software crashes, it does not anymore give out watchdog reset pulses).
